What TJ Did

About 7 weeks ago TJ moved from Germany all the way down to Melbourne, Australia. TJ's originally from the land down under, but after a decade it's like a whole new place to him. So while Weird Orbits has its typical mid issue break we thought we'd allow him a little room to show some of the fun things he did while settling in to life in Melbourne...

First things first... I saw Batman V Superman! In glorious 3D! And in a cinema where every time something loud happened the floor shook! *contented sigh* Controversial opinion coming up, but I really really enjoyed it. It was like the second act of an opera. I have no idea why the internet decided it was the worst thing ever. Did they not see the Fantastic 4? And yes in that pic I am wearing Batman 3D glasses. Ask me why and I'll respond with, 'Why the hell wouldn't you!?!'

While wandering around Brunswick Street in Fitzroy I discovered the Rose Street Markets. Such a cool little indie craft market with loads of artists selling their work. Lena would have loved it! While there got chatting to Hanna of Hannakinart. Just adored her monster artwork, cause let's face it, both of us at Weird Orbits have a soft spot for that kind of thing.

While I'm talking about discovering things... Ramen! Praise be to whoever for the ramen here. One of the best parts of living in a very culturally diverse city is the food. And with Australia's proximity to Asia I have eaten my weight in some very tasty Asian food. Something I missed terribly in Germany and greater Europe as they don't have much authentic Asian food over there. But I don't live there anymore...

I went to the National Gallery of Victoria and saw the Warhol/Weiwei exhibit. I have no qualms saying I don't care for that art movement. It's hollow and vapid. I know that's kinda the point and I can appreciate it on that level, but to pay and go see it? Meh. You might as well look at someone's Instagram feed. Which is ironic given my controversial stance on Batman V Superman.

And lastly, what would a What TJ Did post be without a visit to a comic book store?

For some strange reason every time I came back to visit Melbourne I would miss All Star Comics. Well I'm not making that mistake again. I love this freakin' place! If you're in Melbourne and want to buy comics I can not recommend this place enough. Sure the other places are good, but All Star is just the perfect comic readers place. I think I've spent my entire comic budget fr the next several months there. Don't tell the other half...
